    Surface Dressing

    The most cost effective and widely used method of highway maintenance, surface dressing is the application of hot bitumen and chippings to an already existing road surface. Helping to make roads safer, this process can significantly extend the life of a road, restoring skid resistance and enhancing overall appearance, whilst sealing the road to prevent further potholes and cracks forming.

    Conventional Surfacing

    Designed to restore the surface profile of a road, conventional surfacing improves rideability, skid resistance and drainage of an existing road structure. Either as an inlay, or an overlay, the old road surface is usually planed off and replaced with a more suitable material. This can also involve removing and replacing lower levels of the existing road structure.

    Site Preparation & Resurfacing

    A more extensive structural maintenance, road resurfacing involves removing several centimetres of existing surface and replacing it with a new material, rolling it out to give a smooth surface. If a road is too far gone, groundworks including site preparation, foundations, earthworks, utility ducting, drainage and sub-base installation may all be required to create a completely new road surface.
