Waldridge Roundabout Resurfacing for Durham County Council

At Debmat Surfacing Ltd, we’re proud to deliver high-quality surfacing solutions that improve local infrastructure while looking great for years to come. Our recent project at Waldridge Roundabout was carried out on behalf of Durham County Council, transforming a tired roundabout island into a durable, attractive, and low-maintenance resin-bound surface.

Project Overview

Durham County Council contracted us to excavate and fully resurface the roundabout centre with a UV-stable resin-bound system. The finished surface covers approximately 65–68 m² and was laid at 18 mm thickness using SureSet’s 6 mm Barley Butter UVR blend, offering warm natural tones with excellent durability and colour stability.

Scope of Works

• Traffic Management
  • All required traffic management and permits were arranged by our team to ensure safety and compliance throughout the works.
• Excavation
  • Excavated the entire roundabout centre to formation level.
  • Removed and responsibly disposed of all arisings.
• Kerbing and Edging
  • Installed new block edging around the light column base to create a neat, stable finish.
  • Supplied and installed approximately 9 linear metres of 10 × 5 half-batter kerb to remove a drop kerb and replace any damaged kerbing.
• Layered Build-Up
  • Supplied and laid a granular sub-base to achieve the required levels.
  • Installed 50 mm of porous, dense binder course for structural integrity and drainage.
  • Applied the resin-bound system at 18 mm thickness.

The Resin System

We used SureSet UVR resin for its long-lasting colour stability and proven durability. The selected Barley Butter blend creates an attractive, natural look that will remain bright and clean for many years with minimal maintenance.
