Debmat Surfacing Ltd is proud to be working on a significant road resurfacing project at Slaley Hall, ensuring the hotel’s access road is restored to a high-quality, durable finish. The first phase of this project focused on road planing, a crucial step in preparing the existing surface for the upcoming asphalt layer.

This method is essential for eliminating potholes, cracks, and uneven surfaces, ensuring a smooth and stable foundation for new asphalt. At Slaley Hall, our team employed precision planing techniques to efficiently remove aged material, improving the road’s structure before resurfacing begins.
The Road Planing Process at Slaley Hall
- Surface Removal: Using state-of-the-art planing equipment, we carefully ground off the deteriorated top layer of the access road.
- Surface Cleaning: After planing, the area was thoroughly swept to remove loose debris, ensuring a clean and even base.
- Traffic Management: The road remained open throughout the process, allowing Slaley Hall to continue operations without disruption.

Next Steps – Resurfacing and Road Markings
With the road planing phase successfully completed, we now move on to week two of the project, where we will apply a tack coat bitumen emulsion to bind the new surface layer. Our expert machine paving squad will then lay a fresh layer of high-quality stone mastic asphalt. Once complete, thermoplastic road markings will be applied, ensuring clear and durable road guidance.
