Matfen Hall Overspill Car Park Construction – New Tarmac Roadway & Gravel Parking Areas

As part of the continued development of the prestigious Matfen Hall estate, Debmat Surfacing Limited has been appointed to construct a brand-new overspill car park adjacent to the golf clubhouse.

The project has been carefully designed to provide additional parking capacity while complementing the natural surroundings of the estate. Combining high-quality asphalt surfacing with locally sourced gravel parking bays, the completed car park will offer a durable, practical and visually sympathetic solution for golfers and visitors alike.

Ground Preparation

Every successful surfacing project starts with meticulous preparation. Our experienced groundworks team first regraded the entire area, ensuring correct levels for drainage before thoroughly compacting the formation to create a stable foundation capable of supporting regular vehicle traffic. Preparing the sub-base correctly is essential to maximise the lifespan and performance of the finished surface. Defining the Parking Bays

To create a clean and organised layout, treated timber rounds were supplied and installed around the perimeter and between individual parking bays.

These timber edging sections provide:

Clearly defined parking spaces
A natural appearance that blends into the surrounding woodland
Long-term durability with minimal maintenance
Effective retention for the gravel parking areas

Locally Sourced Gravel Installation

Approximately 340m² of locally sourced decorative gravel was supplied and laid within the parking bays.

Using locally sourced aggregate not only complements the rural setting of Matfen Hall but also provides excellent drainage while maintaining a premium finish suitable for one of Northumberland’s most prestigious hospitality destinations.

New Asphalt Access Roadway

The central access road has been constructed using a robust asphalt specification designed for long-term durability.

Works included:

60mm Dense Binder Course
30mm Close Graded Surface Course
Approximately 750m² of machine-laid asphalt

Using our modern paving equipment allowed our team to produce a smooth, consistent finish across the entire roadway while ensuring excellent ride quality for vehicles accessing the new parking facilities.

The finished roadway provides a hard-wearing surface capable of accommodating daily traffic while delivering the professional finish expected throughout the Matfen Hall estate.
